Was able to shave about 1,000 kWh off our electric bill this year. 15,500 kWh vs 14,500 kWh. And that’s with increasing the number of devises, people (summer intern during work hours), garage door openers, while reducing consumption via LED light bulbs.
Saved about $117. Probably spent a couple times that on LED bulbs.
For reference the average household uses 10,766 kWh. Despite or eco friendly house we use more because 1) we both work from home (so we use zero electricity outside of the home unlike most households), 2) Geothermal heating and cooling runs off of electricity. 3) we have pumps running all the time – water pumps, sump pump and septic system pumps. 4) We’re staring at or using devices basically every evening. I’m on the computer or my phone every waking minute of my life.
